Rosa Barbour Obituary

Rosa A. Barbour, 99, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008, after a long stay at Richfield Nursing Home, Salem, Va. She was born October 9, 1909 in Pittsylvania County, Va. Rosa was a member of St. Paul Outreach with the Bishop Walter Anderson, Pastor. She held positions in the National Missionary Department of the Church of God Apostolic and St. Paul Outreach. Rosa was Superintendent of Sunday School and Head of the Usher Board. Rosa then became a minister for 45 plus years. She was very faithful and dedicated in all her positions held and to her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Barbour, father, William Anderson, mother, Katie Anderson, four brothers, three sisters, one daughter, one nephew, Alfred Anderson and one niece, Lillie Mae Robinson. Survivors include three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three nephews, Walter Anderson, of Danville, Va., Jimmie Anderson and John Anderson, both of Roanoke, Va.; two nieces, Edna Cathcart and Lucy Hampton, both of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a very close friend, Missy Newton of Downingtown, Pa. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2008 at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens with Bishop Walter Anderson and Pastor Martha Anderson officiating. In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I worked at Richfield and was there with her. She was such a loving and caring lady. The world gained a wonderful angel. I had brought my daughter in to see her when she was little oh how she loved her. I want to express my deepest sympthany to you during this time and know that you are in my prayers.
