Fred Ferrell Obituary

Fred A. Ferrell, 99, of Roanoke, Va., died on Wednesday, November 26, 2008. He was the son of the late Charles A. and Beulah C. Ferrell. He was a Deacon and Charter Member of Bethany Christian Church. Fred was a Army veteran who served with the 69th Division during World War II. He was the former Director of the Associate Grocers of Virginia for 25 years and was the retired owner of Ferrell's Market. He was a member of Pleasant Masonic Lodge #63 and a member of United Commercial Travelers for over 60 years. Surviving are his wife, Margaret J. Farrell; and sister-in-law, Edith J. Turner; four nieces; four nephews; and dear friend, Shirley Lineberry. Funeral services will be held noon on Monday, December 1, 2008, at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Matthew Ricks and the Dr. Wayne Sellers officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 30, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 540-982-2100.
