Elizabeth Wingfield Obituary

Elizabeth Barbour (Granny) Wingfield, 95, of Martinsville, died Sunday, November 30, 2008. She was a lifelong member of Snow Creek Christian Church where she was a dedicated Christian servant. Granny's home was opened to anyone in the community and she constantly strived to meet the needs of others. Mrs. Wingfield was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Wingfield; daughters, Brenda Wingfield and Phyllis Oakes; grandson, Todd Belcher. She is survived by her grandchildren, Susan Walker, Leslie Oakes and husband, Jerry, Teressa Fridley and husband, Eddie, Christy Shrader and husband, Kris, Chris Belcher and wife, Penny; great-grandchildren, Maegan and Jessica Sutphin, Lauren and Justin Oakes, Dana and Cody Belcher, McKinlee and Zeke Shrader. Funeral services will be conducted from Snow Creek Christian Church 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Jim Compton and the Rev. Berlin Hanks officiating. Interment will follow in Snow Creek Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Snow Creek Christian Church, 4970 Snow Creek Road, Martinsville, Va. 24112. Her family will be receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church and other times at the home of Mrs. Wingfield. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.

Dear Liz's family,

Liz will be missed by her family, friends and church family. We have such fond memories of her singing in the choir for so many years and for serving the Lord in so many capacities at Snow Creek Christian Church. Please know you all are in our thoughts and prayers, treasure the memories.........God Bless You!
