Robert Arritt Obituary

Robert Boone Arritt Sr., 82, of Roanoke, died Sunday morning, November 30, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, in Salem. Mr. Arritt was born March 17, 1926, in Covington, a son of the late Roy and Reva Boone Arritt. He was a veteran of World War II with the United States Army. He was employed in the Spin Department of the former Hercules, Inc. plant in Covington for 35 years and then worked with the CFW Telephone Company in Covington, retiring in 1991. He was a lifelong member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church in Covington. He was a member of Covington Lodge #171 AF & AM and was a retired member of the Falling Springs Fire Department. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Agnes Kegley Arritt, of Roanoke; his son, Robert B. Arritt Jr., and his wife, Nancy, of Daleville; his daughter, Donna Martin, and her husband, Jeff, of Daleville; four grandchildren, Boone Arritt, Brooke Arritt, Emily Martin and Abby Martin, all of Daleville; four brothers, Roy "Buck" Arritt Jr., and his wife, Nancy, Reggie Arritt and Ronald "Punk" Arritt, and his wife, Edith, all of Covington, and Raymond "Jaby" Arritt, and wife, Irma, of Richmond; two sisters, Renna Lee Fleshman, of Lynchburg, and Rita Stayton, of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home, in Covington, with the Rev. Michael J. Fleenor officiating. Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington. The family will receive their friends this evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home, in Covington. The family suggests that donations in Mr. Arritt's name be made to the McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church in Covington or to the Green Ridge Presbyterian Church in Roanoke.

Agnes and children, I am sorry to hear of the death of Bobby. I grew up on Rivermont with arritt family, his brother Jaby is my best friend. I remember Bobby's great 1947 or 48 buick car that was so nice. He will be missed Woody. He is with God
