Mary Minter Obituary

Mary Arrington Minter, 49, of Roanoke, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 30, 2008. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, George Leonard and Mary Alberta Hummer; and sisters, Bonnie and Denise Hummer. Mary was employed by Berkshire Health Care Center and was a member of Preston Oaks Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Mark W. Minter; sons, Eric Jason Arrington and wife, Amy, of Christiansburg, and C.J. Arrington and wife, Denise, of Rocky Mount; granddaughter, Chloee Arrington; sister, Lorna Parkins; brother, George Tucker; stepchildren, Katherine Grace Minter, Melissa Elaine Mundy, Shane Patrick Weaver, and Brandi Danielle Fee and husband, David; step grandchildren, Virginia Fee, Setiva Weaver, Codey and Caleb Weaver, and Kayln Mundy; niece, Amanda Ann Gardner and husband, John; and their daughter, Johanna; and nephew, Kevin Smith and wife, Brooke; and their son, Berkley. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2008, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Joe Greene. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at Simpson Funeral Home, 540-366-0707.

I remember getting excited with Aunt Mary about the Redskins games and wrestling in the living room floor as a child. She was always so much fun. The one thing she has taught me was to always forgive each other. Life is to short to hold grudges. I am just sorry it took so long for me to realize that.
