William Alva Wirt

William Alva Wirt, 65, of Hardy, Va., died on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at his residence. Born November 15, 1943, in Roanoke, he was a son of the late Virginia Beatrice Gray Wirt and Roy Alva Wirt. Bill is survived by his wife of 31 years, Linda Whitney Wirt; a son, William Steven Wirt and his wife, Kathleen, of Portsmouth, Va.; a daughter, Lisa Wirt Lyle and her husband, George, of Martinsville, Va.; a sister, Carolyn Agee and her husband, Dan; and four grandchildren, William, Natalie, Hanna, and Sally. Bill was compassionate about animals and equally compassionate to help his friends and family. He was a hard worker and had a great work ethic. He was always willing to share his wealth of knowledge with others. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. A Celebration of Life Service will be held noon on Saturday, December 6, 2008, at Franklin Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan W. Agee officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
