Alfred Johnson Obituary

Alfred Trenton (Trent) Johnson, 81, of Ivanhoe, Va. passed away Saturday, December 6, 2008 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born March 11, 1927 in Wythe County, son of the late Franklin M. and Eliza Early Johnson and was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie King Johnson, two sons, Victor Lane Johnson, Terry Lee Johnson, one daughter, Vicki Lynn Arnold, son-in-law, J. R. Tate, grandson, Shannon Johnson, two brothers, Tom Johnson, Bob Johnson and one sister, Alma Sowers. Trent was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from Pulaski Furniture Company. He is survived by one daughter, Kay Tate, of Max Meadows; one son and daughter-in-law, Reid and Becky Johnson, of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, John and Debbie Tate, Samantha and Mickey Peak, Chris and Heather Samuels, Alta and Brad Alford, Joshua Arnold, Jarrod and Diane Tate, Victoria Tate and companion, Tommy Mulhall; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Reese Funeral Chapel with Mr. Jack King officiating. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Reese Funeral Home, Austinville, Va., is in charge of the arrangements.
