Brenda Joyce Swain

Brenda Joyce Swain, 65, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, December 8, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy William Monroe Ward and Etta Mae Clay Ward, of Norfolk; four brothers, Albert and wife, Shirley Ward, of Norfolk, Jerry Mason Ward, of Texas, William Monroe "Junior" Ward, and Robert Grant Ward, of Wyco, W.Va.; two sisters, Sadie Mae Adkins and her husband, John Henry Jr., and Nancy Joan Ward, of Norfolk; as well as two brothers-in-law, Walter Miserak and William "Bill" Radford. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Wayne Swain; daughter, Melissa Ann Swain; two sons, Daniel Wayne Swain II, and Christopher Allen Swain; three grandchildren, Sidney Grace Swain, Aidan Elijah Swain and Ayrissa McKinsey Swain; three sisters, Lucille L. Miserak, of Portsmouth, Sylvia Lavill Radford, of Chesapeake and Mary Christine and husband, Jimmy Johnson, of Neasho, Mo.; as well as sister-in-law, Betty Ward. A funeral service will be held noon on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. George E. Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
