Pawpaw,
My life has been forever changed since your passing. I still look for you to be sitting at the breakfast table in the mornings when I visit Nanny. I miss not being able to watch the stories together and watch you fall asleep in your chair by the window. I still find myself trying to hold onto every word you've ever said to me just so I never forget the sound of your voice. I loved to talk to you on the phone because when it was time to go you never said goodbye. So from now on I will never say goodbye, just see you soon! Happy Birthday, you will forever be in my heart and greatly missed everyday. I love you.

DAD,
TODAY IS MAY 4th, HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPS, I MISS YOU SO MUCH. I WILL ALWAYS TREASURE OUR TIME AND TALKS TOGETHER. AS LONG AS I'M LIVING I WILL KEEP THE FAMILY LAUGHING JUST LIKE YOU DID.
THE TIME OF OUR DEATH IS NOT DETERMINED BY ANYONE OR ANYTHING HERE ON EARTH. THAT DECISION IS MADE IN THE COUNCILS OF HEAVEN. WHEN WE HAVE DONE ALL THAT GOD HAS IN MIND FOR US TO DO, THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL HE TAKE US HOME--AND NOT ONE SECOND BEFORE. POPS YOUR JOB HERE ON EARTH WAS DONE, AND I KNOW GOD IS SAYING, "WILLIE...JOB WELL DONE"

Happy Birthday,
Paw-Paw you would have been 79 today. We know your spirit is in heaven smiling down on us. You are missed but will NEVER be forgotten. Today (May 4th 2009) we celebrate your life and all the wonderful memories you gave us while you were here. Your absence has left a tremendous hole in my heart, but I strive for heaven everyday with the promise that I will get to see you again.
I was looking forward to fixing you another HUGE basket this year with all your favorite goodies. Since I can't do that I am offering up balloons.....
Happy Birthday Paw-Paw!!

PAWPAW AWAYS SEEMED LIKE MY FLESH AND BLOOD BROTHER, NOT AN ADOPTED ONE. I CAN REMEMBER AND ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT TIME MAMA WAS IN THE HOSPITAL WHEN I WAS A LITTLE GIRL AND MY HAIR WAS LONG AND HE COMBED AND BRAIDED MY HAIR JUST LIKE MAMA WOULD HAVE DONE. I WILL MISS HIM BUT I KNOW THAT WE ARE ONLY LOANED TO EACH OTHER FOR A WHILE AND THEN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST WANTS US BACK. AND HE COMES FOR US WHEN HE IS READY. I WANT TO SAY TO ALL THE FAMILY LETS LIVE OUR LIVES SO THAT WE CAN SEE OUR PAWPAW ONE DAY. HE IS RESTING NOW IN THE BOSOM OF JESUS CHRIST. WE MUST GO ON JUST LIKE PAWPAW WOULD WANT US TO DO. GOD BLESS AND COMFORT ALL OF YOU. TO MY FAMILY I LOVE YOU ALL VERY MUCH. CHARLES AND JACKIE MAXWELL

To the Alexander family, I am so sorry for the loss of Mr. Willie. He was a good man with a great sense of humor. I had the pleasure of seeing him again on the friday after thanksgiving and he was just full of life and joking around as usual. May the peace of God give you strength during this difficult time. Know that my prayers and those from the entire Early family are forever with you. Sharon Churchwell

Dear Alexander Family,
I offer my condolences during your time of bereavement. While today maybe filled with sorrow - we are still full of precious memories, laughter, and joy given to us by Deacon Alexander. He was a gentle-sweet spirit and widely respected by all that were fortunate to have known him. Please know that you are in our prayers - far beyond Christiansburg.
Yours in Spirit,

Paw-Paw,
You will be deeply missed but never forgotten. You were more than just a Grandfather to me but also a Dad. You helped raise me to be the strong black woman that I am today. I contribute much of my success to your unconditional love and support you showed me throughout the years. There will never be a bond between a granddaughter and grandpa quite like ours. You were and will always be my hero.
For now rest in peace in God's loving arms and know that one day I will see you again. With God's promise of eternal life we will never have to part again.
With All My Love,
(Buckwheat)
