Douglas Riggs Obituary

Douglas Eugene Riggs, 64, of Staffordsville, departed this life Tuesday morning, December 9, 2008, at Wesley Long Community Hospital in Greensboro, N.C. Born in Staffordsville on August 28, 1944, he was a son of the late Raleigh and Lelia Whittaker Riggs. He was employed with Allied Fencing. Douglas was preceded in death by his sister and her husband, Betty and John Bond, brothers, Julian and wife Edna Riggs, Harold David and wife, Pauline Riggs, Clayton Riggs, brother-in-law, Buddy Coy, and nephew, Gerald Riggs. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Ronnie and wife Joy Riggs, of Greensboro, David Riggs of Greensboro, Jeff Riggs of Pennsylvania; his daughters, Sharon Riggs of Pennsylvania, Jenny Gibson of Greensboro, Martie Shepherd of Greensboro; his brothers, Arthur (Bill) and wife, Mary Riggs, of Staffordsville, Gilbert and wife, Quincy Riggs of Princeton, W.Va.; his sisters, Margie Penick of Staffordsville, Mary Coy of Princeton, W.Va., Della Irene and husband, Joseph Willien of Burlington, N.C.; seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday evening at 8 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. before the services. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Riggs Cemetery at Staffordsville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Kendall Funeral Home for funeral expenses. Online condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome. com.

Douglas, You were the love of my life for 17 years not nearly enough time now that i look at it i will miss you so much i cant call you everyday now but i will talk to you through God's telephone I LOVE YOU !!!
