Jay Anders Obituary

Mr. Jay J. Anders, 86, of Lake City, Fla., passed away November 23, 2008, following an extended illness. Mr. Anders was born in Gary, W.Va., to Cleve and Ethel Anders. He was a Naval Veteran serving from 1942 to 1947. Mr. Anders worked for A-1 sandwiches for over 20 years. After retiring he worked at the Price Quick Stop in Lake City becoming friends with many of the patrons. Many friends remember him through the Columbia County Flea Market where he also enjoyed working for over 20 years. Mr. Anders is survived by a sister, Nell A. Boyer, of Galax, Va.; a brother, Rossie Anders, of Roanoke, Va.; and two special friends, Nell Feagle and Randall Saunders, both of Lake City. Several nieces and nephews and other family members also survive. A celebration of life in his memory will be held at the American Legion in Lake City, Fla., on Saturday, December 13, 2008, from 4 to 6 p.m. Per his request, Mr. Anders will be buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Grayson County, Va.
