Ocie Conner Obituary

Mrs. Ocie Marshall Conner, 99, formerly of Willis, Va., passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Friendship Manor Convalescent Center, Roanoke, Va. She previously resided in Portsmouth, Va. Born in Willis, Va. on July 29, 1909 to the late Emma Harman Marshall and Crockett A. Marshall, she was preceded in death, in 1985, by her husband, John G. Conner, of 57 years, and brothers, Lanan, Maynard, and Luther Marshall. She is survived by her sister, Neva Marshall Johnson, of Roanoke, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Sandra Johnson Glass, her longtime care giver. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2008 at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd, with the Rev. Ralph Duncan officiating. Interment to follow at Topeco Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Preston oaks Baptist Church, 102 Preston Ave., NE, Roanoke, VA 24012. To the conner family,
You are in my prayers and she is too, I was one of the nurses who took care of her. She was the sweetest and kindest woman and no matter what she always had a smile on her face, she is sadly missed but always in my heart!
