David Lylburn (Pee Wee) Payne, 56, of Roanoke, Va., and formerly of Goodview, Va., died on Tuesday, December 9, 2008. Funeral services 11 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2008, in the Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home Chapel.

I was very sorry to learn of Lylburn's passing. I have some fond memories of him during our days at Stewartsville and Staunton River. In the 7th grade I wanted to be a bus patrol but there was no spot for me, so he would let me take his place sometimes. He was truly a great guy. Rhonda Williams Laprad
