Thomas Whitcroft Obituary

The Rev. Canon Father Thomas Henry Whitcroft Jr., 78, of Salem, Va., went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at Richfield Recovery and Care Center in Salem, Va. Father Whitcroft was born in Upper Darby, Pa., on September 4, 1930, to Thomas Henry Whitcroft Sr. and Anna Speath Whitcroft. He was preceded in death by his parents; and twin brother, Richard Phillip Whitcroft. He is survived by his twin sisters, Eleanor W. Borland, of Sarver, Pa., and Jane W. Leake; as well as his brother-in-law, William B. Leake, of Roanoke, Va.; and his nephews, Richard P. Whitcroft, of Natrona Heights, Pa., William P. Whitcroft, of Tarentum, Pa., and Howard W. Borland Jr., of Arnold, Pa. He is also survived by nieces, Leslie A. O'Donnell, of Dresher, Pa., and Rebecca J. L. Hronik, of Leesburg, Va. The family appreciates the care shown to the Rev. Whitcroft by the staff of the Richfield Recovery and Care Center especially the staff on 3 east who took care of our brother for many years. Officiating at the service celebrating his life will be Father Robert Copenhaver, the Rev. Thomas Clay, and the Rev. R. Bradley Laycock. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, in the chapel at the Richfield Recovery and Care Center in Salem, Va. Another service will be held in Pittsburgh, Pa., at a later date. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
