Irene Tolley Obituary

Irene Teel Tolley, 91, of Christiansburg, Va., and Nashville, Tenn., passed away on Monday, January 12, 2009, at the Richland Place Retirement Center, Nashville, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Edward (Ed) Tolley. She is survived by two children, J.W. "Pete" Tolley and wife, Debbie, of Lynnville, Tenn.; and a daughter, Anne Tolley Kelly and husband, J. Edward Kelly, of Richmond, Va. She leaves behind two grandsons, Jonathan "Paul" Kelly, of Nashville, and Bradley William Tolley, of Cookeville, Tenn. She was the oldest of nine children born to Shelor A. and Effie Altizer Teel of Riner, Va. She is survived by two sisters, Edith Phillips and Peggy Sheppard (Roger); and a brother, Don Teel (Betty), all of Christiansburg. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Peg Tolley (Tootie), of Princeton, W.Va. She was dearly loved by many nieces and nephews. She was a long-time member of the Christiansburg Church of Christ and most recently of the Hillsboro Church of Christ in Nashville, Tenn. The funeral will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2009, with visitation from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. Interment will follow at the Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Timothy Hill Children's Ranch at Riverhead, N.Y. 11901. The Tolley family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, Va.
