Glenn Barbour Obituary

Glenn Ford Barbour, 61, of 1847 Yorkshire Drive, Sandy Level, Va., died on Thursday, January 15, 2009, in the Veterans Medical Center in Salem. Born on April 2, 1947, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late, Haywood Guy Barbour Sr. and Vernell Hedrick Barbour. He was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Barbour. Mr. Barbour was a member of Mountain View Christian Church, was a Lifetime member of the NRA, a member of Scale Rock Sportsman Club and enjoyed hunting, four wheeling and farming. He was an Army veteran of Vietnam and was a retired employee of Ronile, Inc. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Cassidy Barbour, of the residence; one daughter, Wendy Barbour and her friend, Joe Ferguson, of Rocky Mount; one brother, Haywood Barbour Jr., of Hurt; one sister, Rachel Mullins, of Vinton; three grandchildren, Ashley Barbour, Emily Barbour, and Caleb Barbour; and one greatgrandchild, Olivia Barbour. Graveside services with Military Honors by VFW Post #4165 and DAV Chapter #46 will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at the Barbour Family Cemetery in Sandy Level by the Rev. R.G. Rowland. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2009, at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence. Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
