Patsy Strader Obituary

Mrs. Patsy Kelly Strader, 90, of Daleville, Va., and formerly of Richlands, Va., died on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, in Daleville, Va. She was born in Richlands, Va., and was a daughter of the late Alonzo Hyatt and Amanda Torbert Kelly. Mrs. Strader made her home in the Richlands area most of her life, was a graduate of Richlands High School, and was a former employee of the Mattie Williams Hospital Business Office and General Shale Accounting Office. She was a beloved member of the Richlands First United Methodist Church, was very active in the Sunday School Department, and a member of the Wesleyan Service Guild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William Robinson Strader; and one sister, Peggy Kelly. Survivors are one daughter, Elizabeth Bonsack Strader-Sweeny and husband, Dr. Dennis G. Sweeny, of Blacksburg, Va.; one son, Mr. William R. Strader Jr. and wife, Ann, of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Ann Kelly Moore, of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, Alonzo Hyatt Kelly Jr. and wife, Marilee, of Ann Arbor, Mich., and John Torbert Kelly and wife, Katherine, of Bristol, Va.; and three grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Patsy Kelly Strader will be conducted noon on Saturday, January 24, 2009, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Dr. Dennis G. Sweeny officiating. Interment will follow in the Hankins Cemetery in Richlands. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands on Saturday at 11 a.m. until the funeral hour. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richlands First United Methodist Church, 402 Suffolk Ave., Richlands, Va. 24641 or the Glebe Benevolent Fund, 200 The Glebe Blvd., Daleville, Va. 24083. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands is in charge of arrangements and those wishing to express sympathy online may do so at www.hurstscottfuneralhomes.com.

Betsy and Robby,

I have so many wonderful memories of your mom at the Glebe that bring a smile to my heart. I know the Lord will continue to have special work for her to do until all of us are together again.
