Doris Ricker Obituary

Doris Brizendine Ricker, 85, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, January 23, 2009, and will be singing with the angels. She is preceded in death by her sister, Isabelle Eyler. Mrs. Ricker was a longtime member of Red Hill Church of the Brethren and retired from the VA Medical Center with over 20 years of service. She was a loving mother who dedicated her life to her children. She is survived by her son, Robert Ricker, of Roanoke; daughters, Diane Parker and husband, Jim, of Roanoke, Loretta Miller, of McDonough, Ga., Pennye Epperly and husband, Jeff, of Roanoke, and Lisa Mongan and husband, Quinn, of Salem; grandchildren, Ted, Kyle, and Kevin Campbell, April Darley, Chad Ricker, Michelle Behrns, and Quinn and Kayla Mongan; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Lois Overfelt and husband, Garland. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2009, from Red Hill Church of the Brethren with Pastor Tony Emmons officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2009, at Oakey's South Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
