Jack Rodenbush Obituary

Jack Rodenbush, 84, of Salem, Va. passed away quietly at the VA Medial Center on Thursday, January 22, 2009. Jack Rodenbush served in the United States Navy on the Battleship USS Indiana in WWII. Jack also had a twin brother, Gene, who served in the United States Marines and was killed in Guam at the age of 19. Jack met and married Vonita, a Wave in the United States Navy, and they were married 64 years when he passed. Jack also served his country in the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW and Navy League of the United States. Jack and Vonita were active in the naval reunions, travelling all over the country. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vonita Rodenbush; son, Gene Rodenbush and wife, Vickie, of Hardy, Va.; granddaughter, Jennifer Saltus and husband, Dean; and two greatgrandsons, Matthew and Nathan Saltus, of Floyd. The family wishes to thank all the people of the Virginia Veterans Care Center and VA Medical Center for the wonderful care given to our father. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer or American Heart Association. A private cryptside service will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home in Salem.
