Louise Johnson Butts, 77, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on Saturday, January 24, 2009. Louise was born in Ashe County, North Carolina on February 28, 1931, to the late Florence Weaver Allison and Shubert Lee Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, James George Butts. Louise had retired after 37 years of teaching and was enjoying life with her grandchildren and family. She received a Bachelor of Education degree from Emory and Henry College. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Blanton and her husband, Tom and Karen Warner and her husband, Cameron; four grandchildren, James, Sarah, and Cole Blanton and Joanna Warner. She is also survived by her sister, Sybil Davis and her husband, the Reverend William L. Davis, of Pocahontas, West Virginia and their children and families as well as Marian and George Sweet and their children George and Stacey. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Estelle Butts and many nieces and nephews from her husband's family and dear friends, relatives and caregivers. Her giving nature and love of family will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church with Pastor James H. Bangle and the Reverend William L. Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery. Mary (and family). I was sorry to see that your mother passed away. I just wanted you to know I was thinking about you during this time. I loss my father about a year ago and it was very comforting to me to get these messages. I hope you are doing well.

I am sorry to learn of your loss. I will always remember Mrs. Butts' many acts of kindness as we taught together at Marion Primary School. I am sure she touched the lives of many students. May God bless you and bring you His comfort and peace,
