Flo Sharitz Obituary

Flo Clyde Sharitz, 91, of Milton, Fla., passed away Saturday, January 24, 2009. She was the eldest daughter of the late Churchwell and Katie Webb, of Wytheville. She was born July 11, 1917, in Sylvatus, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forel Kenneth Sharitz; a brother, James Allan Webb; a sister, Alma June Hedrick; and grandson, French Kenneth Sharitz. Mrs. Sharitz was a resident of Coalwood, W.Va. for many years and was active in the community, church, PTA, Women's Club and all worthy causes. She also operated Sharitz's Grocery on West Lee Highway in Wytheville for several years and was an active member of the Petunia Christian Church and Choir. Mrs. Sharitz was a phenomenal lady, diagnosed with diabetes at age 26; she never allowed it to limit her many activities in her community and church or the extraordinary support and nourishment of her family and friends. She is survived by her only child, Kenneth Neale Sharitz and his wife, Donise and their daughters, Sheila Anne (William) Johnson and Amanda Clyde (Roy) Bentley and their families; three sisters, Bonnie Fay Flinchum, of Wytheville, Va., Virginia Dare (Louis) Callahan, of Dublin, Va. and Willie Lou Martin, of Lynchburg, Va.; seven great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Rufus Spence officiating and members of the Petunia Christian Church serving as pallbearers. Interment will follow in West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
