Rosalyn Crabill Obituary

Rosalyn Fisher Crabill, 85, of Roanoke, Va., and also from Middleburgh, N.Y., was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 25, 2009, at Raleigh Court Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born on September 14, 1923, in Wilmington, Del., she was the daughter of the late Michael L. Fisher and Kate Smith Fisher. She grew up in Wilmington, moved to Ellicott City, Md., and made her home in Middleburgh, N.Y., before later moving to Roanoke, Va., with her daughter and son-in-law. Mrs. Crabill was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. During her lifetime, she worked at a factory in Delaware, and was a mender in a cotton mill, and a bartender in a restaurant in Ellicott City. She was an excellent swimmer, and was also a lifeguard while growing up. One of her biggest loves was the ocean. She loved her summers spent in Ocean City, Md., swimming and crabbing. Her most favorite pastime was singing and playing the guitar. She loved country music. Mrs. Crabill was preceded in death by her husband, William Wood Crabill. Also preceding her in death was her brother, Michael L. Fisher Jr.; and her two sisters, Mary Fisher Grubb and Catherine Elizabeth Fisher. She leaves behind her loving family. Survivors include her two sons, William E. Crabill Sr. and Robert C. Crabill Sr., both of Middleburgh, N.Y.; her daughter, Rosalyn K. Carman and husband, Danny, of Roanoke, Va., seven grandchildren, William E. Crabill Jr. and wife, Michelle, Melody Wright and husband, Chris, Timothy M. Crabill and wife, Stacy, Robert C. Crabill Jr. and wife, Tammy, all of Middleburgh, N.Y., Sue Ann Davidson and husband, of Florida, Christina K. Konrad and husband, Christopher, of Roanoke, Va., and Cory M. Carman and fiancée, Kristy Thomas, of Vinton, Va.; several great and great-greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. No funeral service will be held. The deceased requested to be cremated and a private family ceremony will be conducted in the summer. The family wishes to thank Lewis Gale Hospital, Raleigh Court Health and Rehabilitation Center, Dr. Karen Barnhart, Oakey's Funeral Service, and all of the friends and family who have called. She will live on inside our hearts. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel & Crematory, 540-989-3131.
