David Murphy Obituary

David V. Murphy, 50, of Roanoke, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 3, 2009. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Murphy. David attended both the Jefferson College of Health Sciences and Old Dominion University. He served with the United States Army's Airborne and Ranger Divisions. He was an employee of the U.S. Postal Service with 21 years of service. Surviving are his sons, Ryan A. Murphy and fiancée, Katie Hart, and Sean P. Murphy, all of Roanoke; Fiancée, Rebecca Conner, of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous friends including, Joe and JoAnne LoFaro, of Hardy, Mike Walkup, of Troutville, James Otterman, of Roanoke, and Gary and Beth Collins, of Rocky Mount. Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2009, at Simpson Funeral Home, 540-366-0707.

I didn't know David real well, but everytime I saw him at work he had a smile and something nice to say. He was a real nice person and I was blessed to have been able to work with such a positive, uplifting person. He will be missed by everyone who's life he touched.
