Lincoln Roop Obituary

Lincoln L. (Sarge) Roop, 77, of Blacksburg, Va., passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at his home. A United States Army Retired Master Sergeant with over twenty years of service, including the Army Security Agency, Europe. He received the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in 1968. Lincoln was a member of the Dublin United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the DAV Chapter 29, Christiansburg, a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1184, Pulaski and a member of the VFW Honor Guard. The son of the late Trigg J. and Pearl Akers Roop, he is survived by his wife, Eleanor S. Roop; children, Debra Neves and husband, Dick, Pamela Vaught and husband, Michael, Samuel Roop and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Christopher Jordan, Lincoln Roop, and Matthew Vaught; a sister, Gae Hedge. The family wishes to express special thanks to PCH staff and physicians, MRH-ER and PCU staff, Drs. Wilder, White, Solomon and Evers, special friends, John Riddle, Mary Turpin and Terri Rose. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Dublin United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Bill Rowland with interment to follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1184, Pulaski. The Roop family is in the care of Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, Va.
