Dorothy Hooks Daniels

Dorothy Hooks Daniels, 87, of Trinity Missions of Rocky Mount and formerly of 129 Bunny Ridge Road, Rocky Mount, Va., died on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at the Mission. She was born on November 15, 1921, in Griffin Ga., to the late Jesse Hooks and Lula Rogers Hooks. She was a retired practical nurse with more than 18 years of service and formerly with the Franklin Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne F. Daniels and Charles Gene Daniels; two sisters, Virginia H. Coleman and Valerie Hooks; and one brother, J.D. Hooks. Survivors are two sons, Raymond Elmo Daniel Jr., of Union Hall, and Danny "Dan" Daniels, of Bedford; three sisters, Irene H. Chance, of Eastman, Ga., Hilda H. Noles, of Warner Robins, Ga., and Cauleter H. Barrows, of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Ovie Hooks, of Eastman, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2009, at the Rocky Mount Church of God with Pastor Travis Gore officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2009, in the chapel of Lynch Funeral Home. Lynch Funeral Home of Rocky Mount, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
