Anne Verba

Anne Verba, 98, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2009. She was born in Glouster, Ohio, to the late Peter and Maria Banko Verba. Anne was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marye V. Nichols and Helen E. Verba; and by a nephew, Paul J. Pincius. She has been one of Jehovah's Witnesses since July 1945 and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, West Congregation, Roanoke, Va. Anne graduated from the University of Ohio, Athens, then received her master's in child psychology from UCLA and finished her teaching career with Beacon School in Athens, Ohio, as head teacher. She has been a resident of Roanoke since 1977. Surviving are a niece, Margit V. Pincius and her family; great-niece, Verba P. Soard; great-great-nephew, Douglas Soard and wife, Allyson, from Ocala, Fla.; greatgreat-nephew, Jay Soard from West Palm Beach, Fla.; nephew, Ted V. Nichols and wife, Peggy, and their family; great-niece, Kim Hubbard and husband, Paul, all of Roanoke; niece, Maria N. Crowder and husband, Kenneth G., and their family; great-niece, Maria "Tara" C. Sanchez and husband, Luis M., and their family; great-greatnephew, Nicholas Sanchez, all of Fincastle; great-great-niece, Teresa Sanchez, of New York, N.Y.; great-nephew, Toby Bryn Crowder and wife, Debbie, and their family; great-greatnephews, Bryn Crowder and Kenton Crowder, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; greatgreat-niece, Kara Crowder, of Greensboro, N.C.; greatnephew, Micah Taze Crowder and wife, Marisa, of Amherst, and their family; great-greatniece, Kinley Crowder; greatniece, Tedi Meredith C. Lilly and husband, Justin, and their family; great-great-niece, Carson Lilly; and great-greatnephew, Jonah Lilly, all of Roanoke. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2009, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, West Congregation, 3359 Colonial Avenue, Roanoke, with Robert Kinney officiating.
