John Ellis Lawson

John Ellis Lawson, 89, a resident of Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke, Va., passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2009, after a long illness. He was born and raised in Patrick County, Va., the son of the late Turner and Agnes Lawson. He was a proud World War II Veteran. He spent most of his adult life in Pueblo, Colo., where he owned the Lawson Television Sales and Repair Company. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marie; a daughter, Diana Sue; three brothers; and four sisters. Surviving sisters and brothersin-law, Irene and Earl Simpson, of Martinsville, Va., Lila Buchanan, of Austin, Texas, Wilma and Al Padgett, of Baltimore, Md., and Clara and Larry Desper, of Cloverdale, Va.; sister-in-law, Arlene Lawson, of Christiansburg, Va.; brother-inlaw, Warren Harris, of Pulaski County, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Edward Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral. Interment to follow in the Lawson Cemetery, Meadows of Dan, Va., with Military Rites by Patrick County Memorial Honor Guard.
