Clara Pollard Obituary

Clara Ellen Deaton Pollard, 79, of 106 Ellesmere Drive, Greenville, S.C., widow of George "Ernest" W. Pollard, died Thursday, February 5, 2009. Born in Bluefield, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Dora Adams Deaton. Mrs. Pollard was a member of Lee Road United Methodist Church, the D.W. Smith Sunday School class and the Nancy Howard Women's Circle. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Briggs and her husband, Gene, of Sumter, S.C.; a granddaughter, Amanda Deaton Barham and her husband, Seth, of Athens, Ga.; a greatgrandson, Royce Pollard Barham; a sister, Betty Lou Grant and her husband, Charles, of Roanoke, Va.; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 8, 2009, at 12:45 p.m. at Lee Road United Methodist Church with the service following at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lee Road United Methodist Church, 1377 E. Lee Road, Taylors, S.C. 29687. Condolences: www.thomas mcafee.com. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
