Sallie Creasy Obituary

Sallie Kent Creasy, 55, of Salem, Va., died on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at Lewis Gale Medical Center of complications following a heart attack. She was the daughter of Adelaide Snead and John Will "Jack" Creasy. As a youngster, she modeled for First National Exchange Bank advertisements created by her father's agency, and later in life was often remembered as the little girl with the blonde ponytail in those ads. Among Jack's watercolors were paintings of Sallie, her toys and dolls. On family vacations to Pawley's Island, S.C., Sallie was one of the Creasy/Ellison/Calhoun cousins who searched for the Gray Ghost and put on musical shows for their parents. Sallie attended North Cross School and Calvary Baptist Church. She was a former employee of the Lewis Gale food service department. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John Jay Creasy. She is survived by an uncle, Lewis Albert Creasy; and many cousins, including Roy and Barbara Creasy, of Roanoke, and Rick and Susan Creasy, of Winchester, who assisted her during the medical challenges in the last years of her life. The family will welcome visitors at Oakey's South Chapel on Sunday, February 15, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held noon on Monday, February 16, 2009, at Oakey's South Chapel with the Rev. Russell M. Cheatham officiating. Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery in Fincastle. Sallie's favorite charity was Colonial Williamsburg, The Colonial Williamsburg Fund, P.O. Box 1776, Williamsburg, Va. 23187-9910.
