Corinne Giles Obituary

Corinne L. Giles went home to be with the Lord at the age of 94 on Tuesday, February 17, 2009. She was a native of Bedford County, Va., and currently a resident of Hampton. Mrs. Giles was currently attending Pine Chapel Baptist Church in Hampton and was a long-time member of Colonial Baptist Church in Botetourt County, Va. She was an avid quilter and reader. She loved her family and her church. Mrs. Giles was preceded in rest by her husband, Urbane W. Giles, in 1974; and her daughter-in-law, Renee Giles, in 2007. Mrs. Giles leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, R. Woodrow "Woody" Giles and wife, Dottie, and Roy Giles and wife, Betty; her grandchildren, Kevin Giles, Mark Giles and wife, Laurie, Melodie Blackburn and husband, Ronnie, and Tim Giles; great-grandchildren, Eric Giles, Kristen Giles, Nathan Giles, Rachel Giles, Cory Blackburn, Holly Blackburn, Faith Blackburn, Timi Giles and Lee Green; sister, Ruby Hawkins and husband, Bill; and many nieces and nephews. Friends are encouraged to visit www.MeM.com to share words of comfort with the family. The family will receive friends at Pine Chapel Baptist Church, 1544 W. Queen Street, Hampton, on Thursday, February 19, 2009, from 6 to 7 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 7 p.m. Interment will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2009, at Montvale Baptist Church Cemetery in Bedford County, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pine Chapel Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements are under the care of ParklawnWood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, Va. 23666.

Dearest Roy, Betty and family,
We were saddened to hear of Mrs. Giles passing, but you are comforted in knowing you will be with her once again. We have often spoke of the beautiful prayers she would offer up to our Lord. She was an inspiration to all.

Roy, Betty and family
As a longtime family friend I have known
Mrs Giles for many years and she was a very sweet lady. I will miss her pinto beans and hot rolls. She was very happy living with you and she often told me so.
She loved to read the bible and watch news on tv. We will all miss her.
