Sylvia Hodges Obituary

Sylvia W. (Peggy) Hodges, of Roanoke, Va., passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at her home. She was a long time member of Colonial Avenue Baptist Church and was a 20 year employee of Woodmen of the World Life Insurance. Mrs. Hodges was an avid traveler and a wonderful and considerate wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving is her husband of 51 years, Kenneth E. Hodges; daughter, Karen Walker; son, Kenneth M. Hodges; grandchildren, Jonathan Walker and Evan Walker; sister, Doris Spickard; brothers, Roy Wood and wife, Margie, Jimmy Wood and wife, Shirley; niece and nephews, Vicki Millehan and husband, Joe, Mark Spickard and wife, Diane, John Spickard and Raymond Wood; a special cousin, Robert Akers and wife, Norma; and many close and devoted friends. Services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2009, at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Avenue. Dr. Jeff Scott will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2009. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.

Kenneth & family of our beoved Peggy. How can I ever express how sad I feel for all of you. Peggy will be greatly missed. Our conversations on the telephone and her visits to New York will always be in my most cheristed thoughts. But our beloved Peggy still lives, but in a brighter and more beautiful world.
