Herman Brumfield Obituary

Herman W. Brumfield, 82, of Roanoke County, Va., passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2009. He was a former employee of Roanoke Iron and Bridge Works and retired from Norfolk and Western Railway. He was preceded in death by parents, Dewey W. and Roberta Whorley Brumfield; and infant son, Bobby Dale Brumfield. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ynell Toler Brumfield; daughter and son-in-law, Linda B. and G. Douglas Arnold, of Roanoke County; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vene and Euell Hamblett, of Rocky Mount, Alice and Louie Scott, of Ridgeway; brother, Dennis Brumfield, of Brights; and sisters-in-law, Clella Nester and Madeline Elliott, both of Danville. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2009, at the Toler Family Cemetery in Pittsylvania County, Va., with Chaplain Marvin Barbre officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2009, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel and will assemble at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
