To the Coleman Family,
It is with deep sorrow that I heard of Mr. Coleman’s passing. I grew up on Cherokee Avenue when ya’ll were living there. Through all the trails and tribulations that families go through Mr. Coleman show strength that was far greater than his physical strength. He was a man that many looked up to and admired. Your Family will be in my prayers.

In the 70's working in Lynchburg on Metro Ambulance Service and attending CVCC with Ronnie was a treat. He always had time to talk and give you advice. He was Cop's Cop. God Bless...

Dear Coleman Family,

I had the honor and privilege to work with Ronnie during the late 70's. He was the policeman's policeman. He was by the book and always looked out for his officer's safety, even if it meant putting his in jeopardy. Yes, his size was intimidating, but his heart was just as big. He pushed you hard because he wanted you to be prepared and be the best you could be.
The Lynchburg Police Department was a special part of my life and will always be family. I know Ronnie will be missed by all, but I know he is proud his legacy lives on at the LPD.
May you find healing through fond memories.

Our family is sorry to hear of your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Ron in the 90's at the LPD. Commander Coleman's advice and direction was greatly valued. He was someone who had the well deserved respect of those who worked with him and a family that clearly loved him. May you find peace in the Lord Jesus Christ during this difficult time.
Psalm 62:8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

You are in our prayers,

To the Coleman Family;
You are in our thoughts and prayers. I remember Mr. Coleman as one of the finest police officials I have had the pleasure to meet. I worked with Ron Jr. on the Lynchburg Life Saving crew many years ago, and saw what a fine son Ron Sr. had. I'm sure he was proud of his children. Lynchburg has lost a great citizen. It was examples like Mr. Coleman that made me chosen law enforcement as a career.

Dear Coleman Family,

My father (George Tomlin) is probably still alive today because of Ronnie's care and concern. When my brother died suddenly in 1985, a part of my father died also. During his grief, he was not taking care of himself and kept everything bottled up inside. This took a toll on his physical health. Ronnie was able to see this and encouraged him to get medical help and taught him how to release his pent up grief. As big and "tough" as he was, Ronnie taught my father that it was okay to experience grief. I hope you will take comfort in knowing that Ronnie touched many lives. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

To The Coleman Family,
I was sincerely sorry to learn of Officer Coleman's death. I met him in the mid-1970's when I worked at the Lynchburg PD. He was a pleasure to know and a truly fine man and police officer. After I left the PD, I had other jobs in Lynchburg where I had the occasion to see Officer Coleman. I will always remember his kindness and his professionalism. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I wish to express my condolences to the family and friends of Ronnie. I met him in the late 70's/ early 80's while still in high school and was a member of the Police Explorer Post hosted by LPD. He was a commanding precence and quite intimidating to us young high schoolers, but it was in a good way. We all got the impression that here was a "Cop's Cop". My brother and I both went on to law enforcement careers of our own, but I have thought about Ronnie over the years, especially during tense situations. I am truly sorry to hear of his passing.

Dear Coleman Family,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Major Coleman, I am a Retired Virginia State Police Trooper that had the previlege of working with Ronnie on different assignments during my 29 years in Lynchburg, Campbell County. He was a true leader and well respected by not only his Department but by all agencies and Police Officers that were blessed enough to work with him. He was one of the few that I would have followed anywhere, anytime, and for any reason . May God bless your Family and hold you in his hands as you go through this huge loss. He will be missed by many and I am proud that I could call him my friend. If I can do anything for you during this time, please contact me.

Dear Gloria and family:

You have our deepest sympathy in your loss. When I joined LPD in 1965, Ronnie was one of the officers that I genuinely admired, literally "looked up to," and tried to emulate. He was always a source of inspiration and encouragement for me and for many other officers. In addition to his family, Ronnie has left a wonderful legacy for LPD and the law enforcement profession. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Gloria and family,
I just learned of the trajic passing of Ron. My wife, Barbara and I are in Florida and unable to express our condolences personally. I want you and your family to know that I have the highest regard and respect for Ron having worked with him so closely for many years during some tough times. He was a pillar of stone in the police department with whom many officers looked up to and respected. I was one of many who consulted with him regularly. His family needs to know that his family always came first and his love for his wife and children were always the topic of conversation. I will truly miss the big guy and know that the Lord has prepared a special place for him in heaven. May God bless you and keep you during this time of sorrow and if there is anything I can do for you and your family, please let me know.
