I have been out of town and just learned of Cynthia's death. I was at a conference in Arlington, and was talking to a friend there about the trip Cynthia and I took there to a Special Ed conference about 17 years ago. We had such a great time!!! I missed her so much when you all moved south. I was glad to hear she was back teaching in the area and we had sent a few messages back and forth. Cynthia was an awesome teacher and the students she has taught over the years are fortunate to have been in her classes. I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers remain with you and your family.

During this time of mourning, I would like to express my sincere condolence at the loss of your loved one. May you find comfort in persistent prayers, as “the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your heart and your mental powers.” [Phil. 4:7] I certainly hope that the help God can give at this time will make a difference.

I have worked with Cynthia for the past 2 and a half years at AHS. There was never a day that went by that she didn't ask "how are you?" She was always concerned about others, especially her students. She has touched so many lives with her kindness and I feel so blessed to have known her.

Cynthia and I went through new teacher orientation together when we both started working at Abingdon High School. She always made me feel like a wonderful teacher and she cared deeply about her students. She always asked how I was doing everyday and supported me whenever I felt down. She was a truly wonderful person. I am sorry that I will be unable to attend the services, but I wanted to let you know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss her deeply.

I am truly heartbroken to hear of your loss. I worked at AHS until this year, and Cynthia was always so kind to me and everyone else. She loved her students so much and was a wonderful teacher. I most remember the stories she shared with me about her family. She loved her husband, boys, and parents so much. She will be missed by us all.

This was my first year working with Cynthia at AHS. She made a special trip everyday to come to my room and "check" on me. We talked about how we shared the same "babies" (our students)... She is one teacher that I never doubted really cared for her students... she was dearly loved by facutly of AHS and students. The school is not as bright now... I miss seeing her face...and I hope she knows how many people she touched... lives that she changed while here with us on earth. We are all so blessed to have known her.

I know that you are in a great place and we all hope you are very happy. You never stopped smiling and asking us when you walked down the halls how are you? I remember I looked sad one day and you said turn that frown upside down and it could always make me smile and so did hearing your voice. You were very inspirational to us. You always knew the right things to say and always treated us equally no matter our gender, color, orientation, or how we looked and you earned our respect for respecting us. You were was not just another teacher, you were special it was like you where our second mother and all of us your children. Yes, you are gone but never to be forgotten. You will always will be with us through the school and in our hearts. Rest in Peace. I love you, we love you.

I was a teacher at AHS from Dec. '05-May '07. I shared a room with Cynthia for one year. I will not ever forget the evening we spent painting our room Falcon blue, our field trip to the bowling alley, or the many Post-It's that were left on my computer to keep me on track. She tried to look out for me and gave me advice whenever I needed it. She loved her students and her job. Most of all, she loved her husband and sons. She talked about them all the time. The family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I came to AHS in 2006 and have had the privilege of teaching next door to Cynthia; she made me feel welcome from the first day I was here, and a day did not pass that we did not see and/or greet each other. I will miss her and her kindness. I have had several of her special educ. students in my classes, and she was so good to work with me in helping them succeed. I am truly sorry for your family's loss. She will be missed here at Abingdon High School.
