Larry Carter Obituary

Larry Glen Carter, Sr. of Roanoke, Va., was born in Pennington Gap, Va. on Thursday, August 18, 1941 and passed away on Friday, February 19, 2009 at the Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, Va. at the age of 67. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Edythe Sprinkle Carter, one brother, Jimmy Carter and one sister, Patricia Carter. He was a former sales manager for Sears and of the Baptist faith. Larry is survived by three daughters, Tammy Robin Dishoungh, of Roanoke, Va., Autum Rae Espinosa and husband, Ray, of Virginia Beach, Va. and Heather Renee Carter, of Woodbridge, Va.; one son, Larry Glen Carter, Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Moneta, Va. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Courtney Dawn Blair and husband, Ray, of Jonesville, Va. and Brea Nicole Dishoungh of Tipton, Ind. Larry is also survived by one brother, Paul Carter, of Big Stone Gap, Va.; four sisters, Saundra Cody and husband, Darrell, of Dryden, Va., Peggy Williams, of Pennington Gap, Va., Jan Rose Barney, of Kingsport, Tenn. and Glenna Tomlinson and husband, Don, of Elizabethton, Tenn. The funeral was held 8 p.m. Saturday in the Sanctuary of the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, Va. with Rev. Paul Davis, Jr. officiating. Visitation was 6 p.m. until time of the service Saturday. The grave side service will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, Va. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. for the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at [email protected].
