Nancy Lightner Pugh

1924 - 2009

Nancy Lightner Pugh, of Roanoke, Va., the widow of Robert Beverly Pugh, died peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2009, at her home. The younger daughter of Grover C. Lightner and Lillian Ruth Jordan of Staunton, Nancy was born on January 14, 1924. She attended Mary Baldwin College. Preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, as well as an only sister, Mary Jane Lightner Bast, of Salem. Nancy was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her family. She leaves behind three daughters, Rebecca Pugh Hudson and her husband, Joe Hudson, Susan Pugh Garcia and her husband, Jorge Garcia, and Beverly Pugh Oliver and her husband, Dick Oliver. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Benjamin Hosp and his wife, Yu-An, Brad Oliver, Andy Oliver, and Abby Oliver. Nancy was a former member of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church. Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Avenue at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2009. Interment will follow in the Chapel of Light Mausoleum at Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
