Walter Robins Obituary

Walter W. Robins Jr., 79, of Roanoke, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 21, 2009. Mr. Robins was an active member of Colonial Presbyterian Church. He worked for the Jewel Tea Company for over 25 years, was a member of Williamson Road Masonic Lodge #163, and enjoyed teaching seniors ball room dancing. He served his country faithfully in the US Army. He is survived by his wife, Irma Robins, Salem; son, Jeff Gress and wife, Leslie, Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Kim Jones and husband, Allen, Middletown, Va.; grandchildren, Christina, Heather, Chelsea, Jeffrey Jr., Valerie and Hunter; sister, Clara Elaine Lynch and husband, Steve, Boones Mill; brother, Ronald Robins and wife, Eva, Plano, Texas; several nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Linda and Wayne Boitnott, Roanoke and Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Arwine, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held 6 p.m., Thursday, at Oakey's South Chapel. Interment will be in Ft. Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Maryland, 2:30 p.m., Friday. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Oakey's South Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, Fla. 33607.

I remember Walter from years ago when we would visit Sheridan Ave in DC to see my Dads folks. He was always a nice gentleman and fun to be around and I often thought and wondered about him. I wish I could have met again and talk of the old folks but that will come now when they are all together again.
