Maria Story

March 28, 2009

My name is Maria Story I am one of his daughters. I was his myan princess because after he went to Guatemala he and my mom adopted me when I was 6 months old. I spent many hours with him taking him to chemo therapy and the many times he was in the hospital. I loved him for many reasons. He loved me no matter what and he loved my children and was so proud to call them his grandchildren. He was funny at times and when he was sick he never complained or ask "why me". Noone who knew him ever doubted how much he loved God and always lived for Him. I miss him so much and my life will never be the same without him here. Maria

Haley Gross

March 27, 2009

My name is Haley Gross, I'm 11 years of age and Carl Clifton Story is my grandfather. I live in Leesburg Va. My grandfather was a good man, I didn't get to see him often enough but over these last two or three years the family's been closer. I've learned stuff about him that I've never heard before. Like I didn't know he was a singer and coming down for the funeral I saw albums with his pictures and heard songs that he sang. Learning stuff about him makes me feel even closer to him. So don't feel bad that I didn't spend more time with him. I'm spending time with him right now. He is always with me.

Rachel Gross

March 27, 2009

I'm Rachel Gross, Carl's oldest daughter's... oldest daughter haha. My papaw was an amazing person, but the sad part is, i never really knew him before he got sick. I've learned more about him from the planning of the funeral than i ever knew before. I learned that he was a kick-but singer, part of a gospel group called the Esquires, and that he really didn't like for people to interrupt him while he was planning his sermons, or touching his hair. He was a genuine person who always took care of others and put them first, before he ever worried about himself. Finding all this out, and discovering what a great person he was makes me so proud to be a part of my family, and eager to visit as much as I can, to show them all how much i love them. I know that he's watching over me, and i know that he loves me. Knowing that makes me want to be more like him. Not a day goes by that i don't think of him or talk to him. I know he hears me.

Joyce, we could never begin to know your heart at such a time as this. However, we know your Faith and your love for our God. As I have always said to you, "I admire you for your strength and courage." You have withered many storms in your life and by standing in faith you have come through them all. I hope As the days turn into weeks, then Months, life's routines will come easier and easier. Allow the Love and comfort from your Family and Friends to help you through this. Soon, your heart will be filled with memories of a life well lived with Carl and joyous times spent together. God will bring you to a place of peace in due time and you will find yourself smiling at some of those moments. I pray that day for you very soon. I was given a plaque when I lost my Mother that read:

Never a tear bedeems the eye
That time and patience will not dry.

So much meaning in so little words. It did comfort me, I read it every day and believed in it. I hope you can find comfort in it also. We love you and anything we can do to help you, would be our pleasure. God Bless, Richard, Sheila

My dad was the strongest person I have ever met. He wasnt only strong in his fight with cancer but he was strong in his faith and strong in his love for our family. My dad and I had a special connection , I was his baby girl and he was my best friend. My dad and I would just sit around and tell jokes to each other and everytime I heard a new one I would run to tell him first because I knew only he would truely appriciate it. I miss my dad more than anyone will ever know. I will always be his baby girl, and he will always be my best friend and Father. I love you poppa .

My father has left big shoes for me to fill. I am his oldest child and I had the privilege of having the most time on earth with him. He was always my hero for so many reasons. Over the past couple of weeks I have gone through so many pictures of he and I together. I will miss him beyond comprehension. I am comforted now because I am certain, beyond doubt, that my father is in heaven, singing with the angels and rejoicing with his family and friends who have gone before him. I will forever have an angel watching over me.

I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for Dad from everyone - thank you all. My family will miss him so much but we take comfort knowing he's happy, no longer sick anymore and with his heavenly Father.

Sean Story

March 7, 2009

I'm Carls oldest son Sean. I've read so many kind words from so many kind people who called my dad friend. He was my friend too. He always listened when I had a problem and was there , not only to guide but to support. He loved all his kids and grandkids. He was proud of us all. We all miss him . We all know he doesn't have to suffer anymore. He walks on streets of gold in a new body with his savior and sings with angles. If dad had one wish it would be that everyone would know the love of God and take Jesus as their savior. Carls family has been blessed to have an Earthly Father who wanted more than anything for all of us to know and live for our Heavenly Father . One day dad I'll walk with you on streets of gold. By then you'll know all the good fishin spots and we'll really drown some worms.

I have read the many kind words that have been written about my husband, Carl. I knew that people thought a lot of him but I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of expressions of love and how much people remembered about him. He was funny, kind, loving, took great pride in his family and most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior with all of his heart. He wasn't perfect but he tried to live his life in a way that brought glory and honor to the Lord. I miss him terribly but I know that when I saw him take his last breath that he stepped into heaven. Thank you all for caring about him and about me and the rest of the family. Joyce

Joyce and Family,
Seems like only yesterday we were all together worshiping the God we all love so much. I came to love Pastor Carl as a brother in Christ and no one will ever know the times he encouraged me through a song, a word or a prayer. He was an inspiration to all of us and will be greatly missed. We do have God's promise that we will see and be with him once again in Heaven. Our love and prayers are with you.

My father...Carl Story...I love his name... I love him. Such a unique man. His love & dedication to Christ were unlike any I've known. He never questioned the struggles placed before him, always placed it in God's hands & believed it was part of the master plan. I admire the strength he showed the past few years thru his pain. No one deserves what he endured but my father would never see it that way. I never heard him say a negative word thru it all. That's why he's so amazing. I'm saddened that my young son never got the chance to know his 'Papaw'. I will tell him great stories & hopefully lead by the same example I was shown. I find solace in knowing my dad is no longer suffering. God bless.

Words can not express the sadness knowing what all you have been through. Carl was such a great man of GOD and his life was a testimony to so many. He is free to know pain and suffering no more. Great is his reward...Even though it is hard to let go we all know Carl is in a better place. I will miss him soooo much. May GOD's peace be upon you all. I am only a phone call away...

To my sister Joyce, all the kids, Carl's extended family ... Pat & I share your grief at Carl's passing ... he was such a talented, gentle & kind servant of God who lived & died serving his master ... Carl has fought a long battle but if there is anyone who ever lived on earth that deserved a free pass into Heaven it is Carl ... I always told everyone that there were only two ministersI knew who made me believe were true Christian wariors ... Carl Story & Billy Graham ... When he sang "How Great Thou Art" the hair on my neck stood up ... Pat & I wish all Carl's family the best in this time but they know & we know that he is still looking down at us all with that smile on his face. Norman & Pat Smith

February 26, 2009

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Carl was one of my greatest inspirations as a gospel singer, singing with my fathers group the Esquires in the 70's. Even though I was a child at the time, I have still such fond memories of Carl as always being so kind hearted and having a great sense of humor. His voice was one of the smoothest I had ever heard, and still to this day, a voice and a spirit I will never forget. He left us with not only memories but something far greater. I still listen to his recordings to this day and am blessed by the spirit behind the voice. My thoughts and prayers are with his beautiful family.

I remember how the group would practice at my home til' 2 o'clock in the morning . . then, go to work the next day and perform so great at their singings that weekend . I will quote Vince Gill"s line of "Go Rest High On the Mountain " WISH I COULD SEE THE ANGELS FACES WHEN THEY HEAR HIS SWEET VOICE SING ". My Love and Prayers are with you.
