Bertie Blankenship Obituary

Bertie Lee Blankenship, 86, of Galax, Va., passed away Friday, February 27, 2009, in Sunbridge of Alleghany. Mrs. Blankenship was born in Wythe County, Va. on December 4, 1922, to Charles and Nellie Clark Repass. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two daughters, Dena Bullins and Erma Blankenship. She is survived by her husband, H. Earl Blankenship, of Galax, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Martha Blankenship, of New Canton, Va. ; daughters and sons-in-law, Lora and Harry Frost, Velva and Dennis Bullins, all of Galax, Va.; eleven grandchildren; seventeen greatgrandchildren. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 2, 2009, at 2 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12 to 2 p.m. at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to High Country Hospice P.O. Box 1287 Sparta, N.C. 28675. VaughanGuynn Funeral Home, Galax, Va., is serving the family. A guestbook is available online at www.vaughanguynn.com.
