Samuel Buford Creasy Jr.

Samuel Buford (S. B.) Creasy, Jr., 83, of Bedford, passed away Friday, February 27, 2009 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Friday, August 7, 1925 in the Bunker Hill Community of Bedford Co., a son of the late Samuel Buford Creasy, Sr. and Ariadne Withrow Creasy. S. B. worked with his dad on the family farm early in life and then retired from General Electric in Lynchburg after thirty years of service. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, a trustee and on many committees. He was a fifty year member of the Liberty # 95 Masonic Lodge in Bedford and was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason of the Lynchburg Valley. Surviving is his wife of fifty-eight years, Doris Bays Creasy; and two sons, Larry Buford Creasy and wife, Rose, of Bedford, Charles Lee Creasy, of Lynchburg; two grandsons, Larry Brad Creasy and wife, Greta and Robbie Wayne Meador and wife, Jeanette; three great-grandsons, Logan, Chase and Brycen; a sister, Sara C. Kennedy, of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Bedford Fire Department, 315 Bedford Avenue, Bedford, VA 24523 or the Masonic Home of Virginia, 4101 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA 23223. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call Sunday after 12 noon and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
