Perry Crosier Obituary

Mr. Perry Alvin Crosier Jr., 77, of Waiteville, W.Va., passed away Monday, March 2, 2009, at the Salem VA Medical Center following a long illness. He was born January 15, 1932, at Waiteville, the son of the late Perry Alvin and Lucille Bostic Crosier. He was a 1950 graduate of Waiteville High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in Korea and Vietnam before retiring with 23 years of service at the rank of E-8 SMSGT. Decorations include Air Force Longevity Service Award with four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters; Good Conduct Medal with four Bronze Loops: National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star; Small Arms Expert Ribbon; Air Force Commendation Medal with three Leaf Clusters; Meritorious Service Medal; Viet Nam Service Medal; and Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal. He also retired with 19 years of service with the Monroe County Board of Education. He was a Scottish Rite Free Mason, 32 Degree of Lockbourne Lodge No. #0232, a member of the Valley of McAlister Orient Shrine of Oklahoma and a member of India Shriners of Oklahoma City, Okla., and a member of the Union Chapter #122 Order of the Eastern Star in Union, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by four grandchildren, Matthew, AmyLynn, April and Rachel; eight brothers, Richard, Donald, Curtis, Jimmy Dean, Joseph, Raymond and Roger; and two sisters, Sandra Kay Crosier and Peggy Crosier Karicofe.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Phyllis Arthur Crosier of Waiteville, W.Va.; two daughters, Debbie Crosier Spivey and husband, Jimmy, of Covington, Va., and Patricia Crosier Sparks of Waiteville; one son, Jeff and Mary Crosier of Waiteville; two grandchildren, Katrina Givens and husband, Jerry, of Covington, Va., and Brad Porterfield of Roanoke, Va.; three greatgrandchildren, Ashli, Breanna and Christopher Tingler, of Covington, Va.; one stepgranddaughter, Emilee Givens of Covington, Va.; three sisters, Norma Pomphrey of Vernon, Va., Shirley EmmaLee Sprague and Brenda Vaughn, of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.; a sister-in-law, Patricia Smith Crosier of Covington, Va.; brother-in-law, Robert Karicofe of Verona, Va.; a special aunt and uncle, Eileen Bostic and Bobby Bostic and wife, Jean, of Ripplemead, Va.; special sisters-in-law, Maxine Hall of Moneta, Va., Shirley Bostic of New Castle, Va., Loretta Vidito of Richmond, Va., Kitty Lunsford and husband, Bill, of Troutville, Va., and Caroline Arthur of Waiteville, W.Va.; brother-in-law, Kermit Arthur of Salem, Va.; and special friends, Henry Ray Dransfield, John Furrow, Earl, Danny, Lockard and Tommy Ratliff, Craig Stiltner, Rick Belcher, Denny Peak, Donnie (Porky) Fisher, Dorris McDaniel Wikle, Cathy and Shawn Ballard, and Russel Turner. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2009, at the New Zion Church, Waiteville, W.Va., with the Rev. Mark Smearman and Bob Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Graveside Honors.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2009, at the BroylesMcGuire Funeral Home in Union, W.Va. A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. by the Union Chapter #122 Order of the Eastern Star. BroylesMcGuire Funeral Home in Union, W.Va., is in charge of arrangements.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
