Wayne Newell Obituary

Wayne Lee Newell, 75, of Lexington, Va., died Friday, March 6, 2009, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. He was born August 10, 1933, in Rockbridge County, a son of the late James Samuel Newell and Edith Clark Newell. He was a self-employed electrician and a member of I.B.E.W. Mr. Newell was a member of Lauderdale A.R.P. Church. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn I. Newell; a son, Larry Wayne Newell, of Lexington; a grandson, Jonathan Lee Newell; three sisters, Juanita Carter, of Roanoke, Roberta Hockman, of Lexington, Betty Ann Newell, of Staunton; one brother, Malcolm (Mack) Newell, of Lexington; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Mace officiating. Burial will follow in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Va.
