Edward Crawford Obituary

Edward Lee Crawford, Sr. passed Saturday, March 7, 2009 at his home in Graham NC. "Eddie" was born on October 12, 1927 in Kingsport Tenn. to Orgie and Elizabeth Crawford. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Forces and the Active Naval Reserves. He had a successful and adventuresome career of 35 years with General Electric in Salem and Charlottesville Va., Mebane N.C., as well as on special assignment in South Africa and Puerto Rico. After his retirement in 1989, he spent time perfecting his golf game, establishing a sanctuary for the birds and squirrels, and enjoying his family and numerous friends, all while sipping on his coffee. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Claudine; their four children, Ed (Debbie) Crawford, David (Janet) Crawford, Sheron Lamb, Debra (Randy) Crawford; four grandchildren, Leigh, Will, Brent, Whitney and Shawn; sisters, Valerine Thompson and Lera Robertson; brother, Bobby Stalnaker; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends can visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009 at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on March 10, 2009 at Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 918 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington N.C., 27215.
