James Douglas Fralin

James Douglas (Doc) Fralin, 79, of Union Hall, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 8, 2009. He was a member of Museville Christian Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He was born in Union Hall on August 10, 1929, to the late Luther Leonard and Ethel Mae Mattox Fralin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Morton, Junior, and Cecil Fralin; and three sisters, Lolene Fralin, Ethel Fralin Perdue, and Estelle Fralin Harrison. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kate Irene Rigney Fralin, of the home; seven children, Ricky Fralin, of Glade Hill, Patricia Pinto and husband, Mike, of Roanoke, Judy Cannaday and husband, Gary, of Rocky Mount, Wanda Manning and husband, Jeff ,of Glade Hill, Dean Fralin, of Glade Hill, Kenny Fralin and wife, Brandy, of Martinsville, and Carol Annette Akers and husband, Doyle, of Glade Hill; seven grandchildren, Michelle Lamm and husband, Ben, of Ferrum, Jaime O'Bryant and husband, Rick, of Rocky Mount, J.W. Manning, Tony Pinto, Doug Fralin, Alecia Akers, and Camden Fralin; three greatgrandchildren, Jalyn O'Bryant, Caleb O'Bryant, and Logan O'Bryant; one sister, Lucille Perdue and husband, Charles, of Glade Hill; one brother, Luther Virgil Fralin, of Glade Hill; and many special nieces and nephews. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Glade Hill Rescue Squad. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, from the Lynch ConnerBowman Funeral Chapel with Rick Poland, Hospice Chaplin officiating. Interment will follow at the Fralin Family Cemetery in Union Hall. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home and other times at the home.
