Joann Myers Dize

Joann Myers Dize, 74, of Roanoke, Va., passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 21, 2009. She was born on December 18, 1934, in Fincastle, Va., to John and Blanche Dunbar Myers. Joann met William "Bill" Dize at W.T. Grant Department Store where they both worked, her as the office manager and Bill as the store manager, where they fell in love and later married. Joann enjoyed life living each day to the fullest and loved teaching, children, being a mom but especially loved and adored her granddaughter. Joann is predeceased by her parents, John and Blanche Myers; her husband, William "Bill" Dize; her daughter, Michelle Leigh Dize; and her brother, David Myers. Joann is survived by her daughter, Pamela Ann Bright and her husband, Wayne, of Salem; her granddaughter, Morgan Onjelique Bright; her brothers, Jerry Myers and his wife, Mary Jo, of Blackstone, Va., and Bill Myers and his wife, Sharon, of Troutville; her sisters, Patty Johnson and her husband, James, of Roanoke, Jean Collins, of Fincastle, and Betty June Reed and her husband, Melvin, of Fincastle; also many nieces, nephews and close friends. Friends are welcome to call on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Rader Funeral Home. Immediately following her visitation, a Funeral Service celebrating Joann's life will be held 11 a.m. at Rader Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Wheatland Lutheran Cemetery in Buchanan, Va. The Rev. Tina Cox will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes all memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, Va. 24018, in Joann's memory.
