Lula Williams Obituary

Mrs. Lula P. Williams, 87, of Loom Road, Bedford, Pa., died 4:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Pennknoll Village. Mrs. Williams was born in Dublin, Va., on Thursday, May 25, 1922, the daughter of the late Guthrie and Sarah (McDaniel) Palmer. She worked as a technician at Nuclear Research Corporation in Warminster, Pa. She was the widow of Robert N. Williams, whom she married December 24, 1941, and he preceded her in death January 10, 1978. She is survived by a son, Norman R. husband of Susan Winterbottom, of Schellsburg; sister, Lea Keister, of Bedford, Va.; and sister, Nancy Tribbel, of Dublin, Va. Lula is also survived by six grandchildren, Branford G. Storey, Joel B., Jesse R., Julia M., and Joshua J. Williams and Michele M. MacInnes; along with seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Guthrie "Bubby" Palmer Jr.; and a sister, Sarah Roberson. Lu was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, garden and can; skills she passed on to a grateful family. She was also an avid NASCAR and Virginia Tech Football fan. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, Pa. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2009, at Highland Park Memorial Gardens in Dublin, Va. Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Pennknoll Village, 208 Pennknoll Road, Everett, Pa. 15537.
