Lorraine St. Clair Griffin

Lorraine St.Clair Griffin, 88, of Roanoke, Va., went peacefully to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2009. A longtime member of Airlee Court Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School, was a GA leader, served as flower committee chair, was a member of the Good News Class, and was a member of the church Pep Club. As a member of the Dorchester Court Garden Club, she won numerous awards. An accomplished cake maker, she made special cakes for many occasions and taught cake decorating. Lorraine was a longtime employee of F.W. Woolworth Company, downtown store. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Pete Griffin; son and daughterin-law, Donald R. and Brenda Griffin; daughter and sonin-law, Linda and Jimmy Light; five grandchildren, Donald R. (Ritchie) Griffin II and wife, Shanon, Andria Walrond and husband, Jeffrey, Angela Kepple and husband, Daniel, Scott Light and wife, Amy, and and Michael Light and wife, Theresa; eight greatgrandchildren (and soon to be two more); two sisters, Ella Mae Thurman and Thelma Pugh; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Airlee Court Baptist Church, 4827 Delray St., Roanoke, Va. 24012. The Rev. John Hamric will officiate. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2009, at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
