I was with Troop 50 on a 50-plus mile hike the day Bob died, and we were in camp the next week, and did not learn of Bob's passing until later. If we had been in town, many from the current troop would have been in attendance. Bob was the Scoutmaster of this Troop for 20 years, and I (as the current Scoutmaster) frequently meet old friends of his and men who have great memories of being scouts in the troop under his leadership. His work and his memory live on.

My deepest sympathies to the entire family. I am a former member of Troop 50 and like countless others, owe a debt of gratitude to Big "D" for his dedication, enthusiasm and genuine concern for all of us. He touched so many of our lives over the years and will be fondly remembered by more people than you can ever know. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of loss.

Although Bob has gone to be with Jane and other family members, our memories of him will live through your stories of him and your family. Our thoughts are with you at this sad time.

Dear Caroline, Rob, Don and Jim,
I greve for your lost, but he is in a better place starting another troop.
Your Dad and Mom is in a very special place in my heart including Bob's mother who would vist my Grandmother in Roanoke, plus going to the river to swim and catch crab, but the most important thing about your dad is that he supported me and was my cheer leader on getting my Eagle Badge plus having the tribe come to the church to have tapped out for O.A. because I could not got to camp due to a broken hip. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and may Gods glory be with you and support you through this time.
Love you all

Dear Caroline, Rob Don and Jim and families ,
We were so sorry to hear of the passing of Bob I have so many fond memories of Jane and Bob but I think the most recent would have been in the 90s when your dad gave my mom the green wooden tackle box from the boat at the RIVER he gave that to mom and then filled it with peanuts for my dad for their 49th anniversary I still remember the laughter it gave to my parents. May God place you in the palm of His hands as you go thru this loss I lost my dad in Jan of this yr it is hard. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you
