Arthur Martin Obituary

Arthur (Marty) Ellis Martin, 91, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009. He was born on February 16, 1918. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Adrian and Cora Turner Martin; wives, Virginia Ferris Martin and Irene Scott Martin; son, Gary Alan Martin; brothers and sisters, Mearis Massie Martin Sr., Macy Lee Martin, James Otha Martin and Elsie Martin Parant. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela (Martin) and Tony Hart; granddaughters, Sarah (Hart) and Jason Fawley and Katie Hart; great-grandson, Landon Anthony Wood; greatgranddaughter, Rebecca Noelle Fawley; sisters, Virginia Martin Perdue, Lois Martin Rexrode; sisters and brother-in-law, Christine Martin and J.C. and Peggy Webster; numerous nieces and nephews. "Marty" served in World War II, he retired in 1981 after 30 years of service as a Rural Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2009 at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Chris Kingery officiating. The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
