Dean L. Martin

Dean L. Martin, 82, of Independence, Va., died on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax, Va. He was born on May 9, 1927, in Filbert, W.Va., to Sloan and Dena Halsey Martin. He was a supervisor for the State of Virginia Health Department. He was a member of Bridle Creek United Methodist Church. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Danny Kleckner, of Uniontown, Ohio; one sister, Frances M. Wood, of Burlington, N.C.; and very special friends, Helen Shaver and family of Independence, Va., and James Hash, of Independence, Va. The body is at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Bridle Creek United Methodist Church, Independence, Va., with interment in Bridle Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Derek Cowan and the Rev. Edgar Roland officiating. The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes preceding the service. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 30, 2009.
